Grounded in tradition, known through service

Pandit Bal Krishna Shastri learned astrology and traditional priestly practice from his elder brother, who served as a pandit in Gujarat. He did not study astrology at a formal institution in Gujarat; his knowledge developed through the family guru-shishya tradition, self-study and many years of practice.

After beginning the study and practice of astrology around 2000, he formally began offering priestly services in 2003. He has been associated with Durga Mata Mandir at Survey Chowk, Dehradun since 2005 and currently serves as its Chief Priest.

Understanding a family's circumstances, tradition and sankalp is as important as performing the puja correctly.
Experience

Important milestones in knowledge and service

  1. Began learning and practising astrology

    Learned traditional astrology and religious methods from his elder brother.

  2. Began priestly service

    Started performing pujas, sanskars, havans and religious ceremonies for families.

  3. Joined Durga Mata Mandir

    Began regular religious service at the temple in Survey Chowk, Dehradun.

  4. Chief Priest and astrology consultant

    Provides temple service and performs ceremonies at homes, wedding venues, offices and other locations.

Service area

From Dehradun to other locations when required

The primary service area is Dehradun and Uttarakhand. Pujas can be performed at temples, homes, wedding venues, offices, business establishments and other suitable locations. Services in other cities require advance discussion of the date, travel, location and availability.

When required, service may also be provided at the Shiva temple associated with Lok Bhavan and on special religious occasions. No government position or endorsement is claimed.
